Covid19 Message from the Committee – June 2020 Update

We are living through unprecedented and challenging times. The Committee would like to express our sympathies to any AOOE who has suffered a recent loss of a family member, friend or loved one. Furthermore, we express our gratitude to all our key workers for the sacrifices they have made.

CV19 has caused, and is still causing, immense financial distress. The RGS Foundation has established a hardship fund to support pupils across all the Schools in the RGS Family whose own families have been affected by financial hardship due to the restrictions imposed to control the Coronavirus outbreak. The Foundation’s hope is that no child will have to leave the Schools as a result of this pandemic. The Committee has decided to support this with a donation of £25,000. If you wish to find out more or to donate to the fund yourself, you can do so here https://www.rgswandaos.foundation/supportus

As you will be aware, the AGM – which would ordinarily have been held in May – was cancelled. We will be reviewing over the coming months whether we can reschedule it for later in 2020. We will keep you informed and when a date is fixed will be writing to all members. In the meantime, Barrie Rees remains as President and Shelley Eyers as President-Elect.

Likewise, we will be also reviewing whether the Annual Dinner can safely take place in early December in accordance with Government guidance and a likelihood of continued social distancing that may restrict capacity.

We wish you all well, and sincerely hope to be able to meet again soon.
